Men’s Open Bodybuilding & Men’s Open Bodybuilding (Light Heavyweight)

Prejudging  

Round 1 (Scored)  

  • Athletes called to stage in 1 group.
  • Each athlete in numerical order called to centre stage.
  • Athletes will be asked to perform ¼ turns in relaxed pose.
  • Athletes will then be asked to perform ¼ turns – Mandatory Poses to include:
    • Front Double Biceps
    • Abdominals & Quads
    • Front Lat Spread
    • Back Double Biceps & Hamstrings
    • Side Triceps & Side Chest
    • Most Muscular
    • Once poses complete – Athletes will return to the line-up.

Round 2 (Scored) 

  • Judges will call 3 Athletes at a time to centre stage.
  • Judges will ask Athletes to perform ¼ turns in relaxed poses.
  • Judges will then compare mandatory poses.
  • Once completed, judges will ask athletes to return to the line-up.

 

Afternoon Show:

  • Athletes will perform 90 second posing routine to music of their choice:
  • No set mandatory poses required; athletes can perform any poses that best suits their physique.

Saturday 10th June 2023 sees the second annual Welsh Fitness Expo and Welsh Fitness Classic being held at Cardiff City Stadium.

July 2022 witnessed 2,000 people from the UK fitness community attend the inaugural Welsh Fitness Expo and Welsh Fitness Classic. The huge success of the first Expo has demanded an even bigger location for year two. The 2023 Welsh Fitness Expo is on course to see 4,000 of the UK’s most dedicated fitness enthusiasts attend “THE” fitness event of the year.

The Expo celebrates the best of the UK fitness industry with world leading brands in sports nutrition, fitness wear, gyms & gym accessories, bodybuilding, strongman/strongwoman, boxing, and MMA.

The Expo also hosts the Welsh Fitness Classic. The Welsh Fitness Classic bodybuilding show will see the best men’s and ladies bodybuilder from across the UK crowned the Welsh Fitness Classic Champion.

Welsh Fitness Expo founder Wesley Skene said, “In 2022 we saw an event that changed the face of UK fitness. Wales is the undiscovered epicentre of the European fitness scene. Fitness in all its forms is Wales’s most popular activity, contributing enormously to Welsh GDP.” “2023 will be even bigger and better, with global brands, celebrity appearances and world class athletic performances. Saturday July 2nd saw the crowning of the very first Men’s & Ladies Welsh Fitness Classic Champions at the inaugural Welsh Fitness Classic in Cardiff.

At a standing room only crowd of 2,000 people, some of the best bodybuilders in the UK went head to head for the title of Welsh Fitness Classic Champion. After months of intense training and dieting it was time to see who was on the money. The Welsh Fitness Classic was hosted by 2021 MMA, MC of the Year Ricky Wright.

The Welsh Fitness Classic selected a world-class independent judging panel, who found the decisions almost impossible. After an incredibly closely fought contest, the winners are:

Ladies Bikini Challenger Division – Zoe Hodgkinson

Ladies Bikini Open Division – Natasha Minchella

Ladies Bikini Masters Division – Kelly Johnson

Ladies Figure & Ladies Figure Masters – Joanna Hudson

The Welsh Fitness Classic also awarded two athletes who had overcome huge challenges to compete on stage, the “Renzo Algieri Contribution to Welsh Bodybuilding”. The winners are: Katy Jane Cooke and Gary Davis.

Welsh Fitness Classic Founder Wesley Skene said, “Every athlete was incredibly inspirational. The most important part of the show was the story behind each athlete. Everyone had overcome huge challenges to even step on stage. It was an honour to create a platform to celebrate their achievements. The Welsh Fitness Classic left no stone unturned in pursuit of a world class show and production values. We are proud to say that no other show in the UK can compete with us for the standard and quality of the show we produce.”

Although the date for the 2023 Welsh Fitness Classic is yet to be announced, the show already has competitors signed up and ready to go. The 2023 Welsh Fitness Classic and Welsh Fitness Expo is set to be even bigger and better
